We finally made it to 2021! It might feel like 2020 is still rearing its ugly head, but I’m optimistic that the bad juju is leaving us and amazing things are on the horizon.

There is something so refreshing about the start of a new year. It feels like an opportunity to refocus and prioritize the things that really matter.

One of my resolutions was to take my wine Instagram, @WineDontWe, to the next level by turning it into a blog where I can share my thoughts and experiences throughout my wine journey.

I’ve always loved wine, and unlike most, I started with reds and had to work my way over to whites.

A few years ago, I decided to explore that passion by taking the Wine & Spirits Education Trust (WSET) Level 2 course.

I was intimidated to say the least.

There was so much to learn about wine. All of my peers seemed to know way more than me. They had tried more wine. Many of them worked in the industry. Some of them turned up their nose at some of the wines that I thought were pretty awesome. I felt like I had to play catch-up. Even as I learned more, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I didn’t deserve to be there.

Now, I have my WSET Level 3 Award in Wines and am pursuing my Italian Wine Scholar, but the feeling that I don’t know enough to talk knowledgeably about wine persists.

I wanted to start this blog to make others feel comfortable learning about wine, and in particular, to relieve that feeling of intimidation that could prevent people from discovering everything this fascinating (and delicious!) beverage has to offer.

Remember, wine is personal. If there was a right answer, there wouldn’t be an overwhelming selection at the store. So, let’s explore it together!

Cheers!
